Kinds of crankshaft bearings

Posted by

Crank pin and the journal shaft receives a heavy load when the machine spins, therefore the necessary bearing (commonly called metal) are oil lubricated to reduce friction load so that the engine can rotate gently and get a good performance.

In other parts of the crankshaft and rotating at high speed and heavy laden usually use type bearing inserts (insert type bearings). This type of bearing has the ability to prevent friction which is good.
Bearing kinds of materials:
a. White metal
White metal is a layer of tin coated steel, lead, zinc and other materials, this type is usually used on a machine with a light load.
b. metal Kelmet
Kelmet metal is a layer of lead coated steel and copper, metals kelmet more robust and durable than the white metal, therefore it is usually used at higher engine load.
c. aluminum
In this type of steel is melted by an aluminum layer, so that this type has a good effect of heat release, this type is now more popular and widely used in gasoline engines.
Cracks Oil Bearing
In addition to these pads must have good material also require a lubricant to minimize wear, now that the oil can flow to the pads, required considerable gap. In general, the oil gap is between 0.02 to 0.06 mm and can be different for each type of machine.
